i know these lolcats are so 5 minutes ago...

i-can-not-has-fish-dont-know-how-to-use-chopstix.jpg ...but when i find one that looks like my cat i just can't take it! i want to teach gertie how to use chopstix...

do what now? (love this!!)

daydream nation is one of my favorite albums by anyone, ever.

dylan 07.

the 5 stages of drunkenness.

cheap ass food.

weird igloo-shaped food.

finally, here are the top 25 movie tearjerkers (i posted 26-50 the other day). i have personally cried at #24, #18, #14, #8 (of course), #7 (of course), #6 (big time--i watched this movie and then i watched it again immediately), #5 (see my comments from the other day), #4, #2 (although i was a little kid, don't know if i'd cry if i saw it now), and #1. BIG TIME CRIED at #1. when i saw this for the first time i was maybe 11 or 12, and my mom was coincidentally in the hospital at that very moment having cancerous tumors removed. and i had no idea what the movie was about--i just started watching it on hbo or whatever and then...ugh. i still remember sitting in my mom's chair, losing it. so...yeah. i totally cannot deal with that movie at ALL. for the record, my mom is fine now, still gets checked all the time but is cancer-free. but i still can't watch that movie. that hospital scene is brutal.

meow meow meow meow meow

name that hair metal band. i got every single one right. that either makes me really really cool, or really really lame.

5 minutes to kill (yourself). (my lowest time was 2:33. woo! there's a lot of fun ways to die in the men's room.)

i need this on a shirt, so i can wear it every single day.

icky thump

in other icky, thumpy news...it turns out that my poor kitty has bladder stones and had to stay over at the vet last night. boooo! poor foofy-foofy. the reason she had to stay overnight? because she apparently went insane when they tried to give her an x-ray, so they had to sedate her. eeek. but, we caught it very early, so she doesn't need surgery or anything like that...just a change in diet and a checkup in 6 weeks to make sure the stones dissolve. it was so weird not having her around last night. :( and poor chris' birthday celebration had to be put on hold for a few hours. nothing like eating lasagna at 9 p.m.! but it was still nice. just weird without the foofy.

AND, ironically enough, my poor kenny is having some similar problems right now, and is having a procedure done as we speak. i'm sure he's thrilled that i'm blogging about his kidney stone, but hey. get better soon, rundel!!!! xoxoxoxoxo

leaves + us = fun.

chris and i realized when we woke up this morning that the red japanese maple in our front yard suddenly looks incredible. and, that my hair is almost the exact same color as the leaves. :) this prompted us to frolic in the backyard as well, and play with gertie from the other side of the window (she's a psychotic window-licker). enjoy.

the world is going crazy.

this is just so awful. i am rarely moved to tears by a tragic news story, but this really got to me. not only because it was such a bizarre, horrific crime, but at the way the media is hounding the amish comminity. i saw one report last night featuring an amish guy who was sobbing, i mean really losing it, and he had 2 cameras and the reporter's microphone shoved an inch from his face. in the background were more amish, with more cameras and more reporters. these are people who don't have mirrors, don't allow their picture to be taken, don't even put faces on dolls for their children (graven images)...and they were just bombarded, hounded, plastered all over every channel. and these reporters were asking them the most pointless questions: "how does this make you feel?" "what do you think about all this?" "are you just SHOCKED by this?" well, what do you THINK they are feeling?!? anyone would be losing their mind at something like this, but these are a people that live their lives in a very peaceful, holy way. they reject our way of life, and people that live in amish areas (like me) respect that. ugh, just horrible. the local news is having a field day, because this happened not too far from where i live. one of the girls was actually flown to the hospital down the road from my house, but they flew her right out to a hospital that could better handle the situation.

ok, moving on.

how to wake up without an alarm clock. or, you could just get a cat that finds surfaces to lick psychotically so you start to lose your mind and the only thing that stops her is to get up and feed her. (preferably surfaces that make the most annoying sounds EVER, like a plastic bag or shower curtain.) welcome to my mornings. 5:30 a.m.--"SLURP!!! SLURP!! SLURP!!"

i live my life on the edge, baby!

so, it's friday night, and i am already in my jammies (tonight being a smiths shirt and a pair of chris' boxers), drinking good coffee, and watching david lynch short films on turner classic movies. my man and my cat are snuggled up together on the other sofa. it just doesn't get much better than this...actually, the cat just came over and plopped down on my chest. so hey, it did get better! awww, she's a happy girl. she's purring like crazy...i think she likes blogging. she even picked out these links for you:

LSD videos. (via boing boing. gertie likes boing boing.)

retrocrush archive. WELL worth the time spent.

we're doing this harry bertoia exhibit opening tomorrow night. should be cool. i met his son val once, years ago. the post secret thing is still at our local museum as well, which is pretty spiffy. word around the campfire is that because of linking to post secret on my old site forever ago, someone i know at the museum got the exhibit to come here. woot!

awesome new house purchase of the day

i can't wait to make my first big meal and eat at this BITCHIN' TABLE!!! i think i also may want to replace the chandelier with this one, in light of this new development (no pun intended).

i probably won't be bloggin' much this week...chris' parents are coming from ohio tonight and staying for a week to help us do some house stuff and get ready for the big move next week...wednesday we are going to see bob dylan (woo!), and then thursday my family and chris' parents are going to meet for the first time...ack! then on sunday we are doing the big move. could i have any MORE happening right now?!? i can't take it. i'm a hot mess.

in other news, i gave myself itty-bitty bangs yesterday when i really should have been packing:

meanwhile, gertie is still the prettiest kitty in all the land:

finally, let us take a moment to bid farewell to the 2nd pair of chucks that went to shoe heaven during this whole house experience:

goodbye, old friends. you've served me well.

etch-a-sketch art. the only thing i could ever manage to make was stairs. :/

my cat is insane. really. she is.

my freaking cat bit me on the hand this morning, and drew blood. for no good reason!! i was trying to close the closet door, and she was in the way, so i gently moved her over. i guess she wanted to be trapped in the closet like r kelly or something, because she bit me when i moved her out of the way! i yelled at her so loud and swooshed at her with a pillow. then she looked all innocent and sheepish, like, "what? what did i do?" YOU KNOW WHAT YOU DID, GERTIE! and you better be thinking about what you've done ALL DAY. mommy's mad at you.

then i got to work and realized that i forgot my lunch. *sigh* anyway...

people who have stayed/lived at the chelsea hotel.

how many records does $18 get you?

54, apparently! yeah! chris and i went to a huge community yard sale yeterday and we only bought records. we bought them from 2 separate people, both of whom seemed to be interesting. the one girl had an immense collection, mostly 80's, and everything in really, really, REALLY good condition. she ended up charging me less than 50 cents per record (her husband was making her get rid of everything. i assured her that her babies were going to a good home). she took great care of her records, and we talked music for a little while. she told me her and her sister were adam ant groupies. she said, "i used to be on the guest list a lot---if you know what i mean." and then she winked. oh, i know, honey!! hahaha...

later i will tell you about the german lady and her crazy german records. well, actually they're MY crazy german records now!! muah-hahahaha! but for now, please enjoy just a small sampling of my purchases from the cool woman who totally banged adam ant:

this stuff was written in ballpoint pen on the back of a picture that came with the who, live at leeds. loves it!

ahhhhh, i see i'm not the only one who leaves the original wrap on records! nice.

i've never seen the brown paper bag in such good condition!

i seriously think i bought this exact album at the exact same store she did. i bought almost all of my first wave of records at boscov's (local department store). i don't know what happened to my "songs from the big chair." oh well. i've got it now!

i got the 2 good go-go's albums. yep.

i love k-tel records! i have a lot of them.

this picture is for my friend mark, who i know remembers record revolution:

ohhhhhh, rocky!

under a blood red gertie:

i also got more u2, more cure, madonna, cyndi lauper, duran duran, sabbath, kiss, ac/dc...lots of great stuff.

this sure is a slow internet day.

nothing really going on at all. personally speaking, the house hunt is getting hot n' heavy, so that's kind of exciting. it seems like all we do lately is look at houses...we found something last night that would be perfect. awesome location, beautiful view from every angle, great yard, porch, doesn't need a whole lot of work on the outside...except that the house reeked of cat pee so severely that i almost passed out. literally. i thought i was gonna puke. it was insane. i think whoever lived there must've had 267 cats and a few dogs. and then died in there. ugh. so we would have to rip out all the carpets, re-do all the floors, scrub the place from top to bottom, paint, etc. but it's really cute with a really amazing yard that is HUGE and has big old trees and a pink flowering dogwod and ivy...*sigh* it really is incredible. but, it needs a lot of work. to be honest, i don't even know what the inside looks like...i was in & out of that walk-through like The Flash. it was awful. but---it could be really, really cute.

man, this is stressful. but an exciting kind of stressful, i guess. maybe we should be doing this...?

p.s. new sonic youth song here, charlie sheen's mean voicemails to denise richards here, jared leto mistakenly thinks his band is relevant here.

how insane was that...

...when christopher beat up lauren bacall for her goodie bag on "the sopranos"? bwah-hahaha, ohhhh that was great.

last week, japanese scientists explaced-- placed explosive detonators on the sun...

this chocolate is the bomb. yuk, yuk.

helsinki hipsters.

it's a conspiracy, i tell ya.

last night we watched "blast-off girls" (directed by one of my faves, herschell gordon lewis). i forgot all about the fact that colonel sanders (yes, that colonel sanders) had a cameo as himself. so the crew could eat free chicken. funny that there's no photo for him on imdb...what, they couldn't find one? i realize that his image is quite rare...oh, i also think i need to get this album.

i also used the last of my purple manic panic last night:

and would you just look at this precious little smiling ball of foof:

don't be a coconut

yay, what a great couple of days! gertie wanted to come to new york with us...

but we told her she had to stay behind and watch the apartment while we were gone.

she was a little upset, because frank got to go and she didn't.

on the way to the show, we took one of many, many wrong turns and ended up in times square during rush hour. eeek!

since we were right there, we decided to stop at michael scott's favorite new york restaurant. ok, not really...

yeah, so, the strokes show was AWESOME. so, so awesome. this was the best stroke show that i've seen since probably 2002. they sounded better than ever. someone said joaquin phoenix was at the show, but i didn't see him. we were on the floor, drinking many many beers, having a grand old time. we were some of the oldest people there, it seemed. it also seemed that everyone in my little area was singing every word to every song...so that was awesome. except for the fat teenage stinky boys who were all over each other all night. they were really, really annoying. after my 5 beers (on an empty stomach, no less), the one guy's stench was almost enough to send me into vomit-land. but, thankfully that didn't happen...p.s. DAMN it was cold friday night!!

*no strokes pics. sorry!*

saturday was really great, too. matt, chris and i went to brunch at enid's. i had eggs florentine. it was yummy indeed, and we got to just sit and catch up with matty boombalatty and it was nice. on the way out i used the facilities, and snapped some pics in there.

then we went shoppin'. i bought a great shirt for $6 and a bunch of found photos at junk. then i got a groovy hat and a pair of shades for $6.50 each at beacon's closet. see ensemble below.

finally, i got a cute plaid skirt at brooklyn industries for $19. i love bargains!! thrift shopping and finding bargains is like drugs to me, i swear.

after that, we went to mugs to meet up with some of matt's friends and enjoy the annual split thy brooklyn skull wine & beer fest. we were there, like, ALL DAY. woo! we had many many many good beers. i drank a lot of the n'iice *something-or-other* belgian strong ale. their hot wings weren't too bad, either. not really hot enough for me, but oh well.

chris had some drunken fun with the receipt.

finally, please enjoy a few random images from our afternoon.

tonight is the academy awards. you can be sure that i will be watching the e! red carpet action, the actual show, the post-show, EVERYTHING. let's see if my oscar picks make it!

p.s. !!!!!!!! most of you won't give a crap about this, but i sure do. crazy!
