"My first suspicions came when I saw them Frenching in front of our house..."

the 50 worst tv shows of all time, according to tv guide. i totally disagree with #49 (come on, it had jeffrey tambor!) and #15 (see my previous posts about this show).

poor mumbling bob. i love him anyway.

here's a montage from "rushmore," a film which uses the phrase "handjob" more than any other film, ever. hahaha...

also he's a ninja!

i need some help with this one---i knew every 80's sitcom referenced except the first one with the fork in the tv dinner. it is totally familiar to me, but i can't quite place what it is!

"my thoughts all seem to stray, to places far away/i need a change of scenery."

so, it's friday night and i am really looking forward to just snuggling on the sofa with my coffee and pepperidge farm sausalito cookies and watching some movies. after the week i've had, i really don't need anything more than this. i've hardly eaten anything all week due to being sick, and today i finally felt pretty good, so kenny and i split a small stromboli for lunch. i got so sick from it that i declared that it must've been made by the devil himself; there really was no better explanation that i could come up with.

anyway, movies. i am planning on "dig!" and "fast times at ridgemont high." i've seen both of these films multiple times, but i am especially amped for "fast times" because it's on a movie channel, not "regular tv," and therefore will be unedited. no longer will i have to hear spicoli refer to someone as a "fuzzy nerd." no longer will we have to wonder, "well, what the hell was brad doing when linda barged in on him in the bathroom?! i thought he just said he had some 'work' to do inside..." ;) i may just record it, because i am often in the mood to watch that movie. it's just so great.

speaking of recording movies, we just got DVR recently, (it's about time, eh?) and i've recorded nothing but movies so far. they are all movies i've seen before, but don't own. right now i've got "blow up," "motel hell," "sin city," "the last waltz," and "the life aquatic." this is a movie i saw the day it came out in the theater, and i was really disappointed. but, after hearing from friends whose taste in films i totally respect, i've decided to give it another viewing or two before i write it off forever. i just love all the other wes movies so much that this one just left me kind of BLAH.

this is completely unrelated, but i discovered today that "the monkees" is back on tv on some local channel. WOOOO! i was so excited! and it is also kind of crazy because i watched "head" the other day when i was home sick, and i got all wistful for the show. and *BAM* there it was for me today! and it really is a pretty good show. funny for a lot of the wrong reasons, but enough of the right ones to make it not totally awful.

i can't believe i'm admitting to this, but i was ALL ABOUT THE MONKEES in when i was 13, after mtv had that huge monkees marathon. i remember on the first day of school this chick tricia told me she saw them LIVE over the summer and met them. and i was kinda jealous. her favorite monkee was mickey, i think. mine was always and shall forever be mike. (who wasn't part of the pathetic reunion tour.) even watching him tonight he was still just so totally cute to me. i think it's the hat. plus, he produced "repo man." i mean, come on.

p.s. i just saw that "the big lebowski" is on at 1 a.m., and i think i can make it if i drink enough coffee.

According to the "Which Big Lebowski character are you?" quiz:

Why don't you check it out? Or we cut off your Johnson!

i got the pork chops, she got the pie

go bob! now that i've had a week to dig on "modern times," i can safely say that my favorites thus far are "thunder on the mountain," "spirit on the water," "rollin' and tumblin'," "someday baby," and "beyond the horizon." it's also fun to sing along with the way he says "MEEEEEEE" in "someday baby."

yes, i love this album and have been listening to it pretty much exclusively for the past week-plus. i can't wait to see these songs live in november!

in other news...

the killers sent me a myspace friend request. i find that SO ODD. famous people don't usually try to friend stupid schmoes like me, do they? hmm. maybe they are blown away by how totally cool i am...? no, i'm quite sure that's not it.

another one of my myspace friends, jeffrey from project runway, is totally rockin' the house, man! i am really pulling for this guy. most everybody thinks he's a total a-hole, but i don't. he's just real and honest and doesn't give a crap what those other saps think. and he's hot. his yellow plaid couture dress last night was really cool. i can't wait for next week, because Ice Queen Laura apparently has a breakdown and cries. but, she's pregnant, so that probably explains it.

the trailer mash. fun!

why oh why can't we have game shows like this in the U.S.?!

"Look Brad! There's a piece of marzipan over there by the life guard chair!"

possibly an obscure quote, i know...it's from "family guy." i like the way stewie says "marzipan," and i've been saying it a lot lately, for some reason. don't those marzipan hamburgers look yummy.

man, some of these 50's ads are soooooooo funny. like the guy zooming out on a sled (on a rainbow, no less) out of some other guy's crotch. be sure to check 'em all out.

wow, this "girls gone wild" guy is certainly a piece of work, isn't he.

okay. did anyone else watch "flavor of love" last night? is anyone else shocked that a girl actually took a poop on the floor?!?!? they really didn't make a big deal about it, they were just like, "ewww, she pooped on the floor! oh well, let's drink!" i mean, come ON!!! my cat doesn't even poop on the floor, EVER! this was a grown woman!!! most likely a skank-ass crack whore, but a grown woman nonetheless. DAMN.

i'm crazy from the heat

just like that david lee roth album. "sweet crap, it's hot!" (thanks to my boyfriend for coining that phrase earlier today-he actually looks kinda crazy in that picture, no? i love red-eye.)

okay, there was just a commercial on cbs for some new fall show called "the class," and the tune playing during the commerical was clearly an instrumental version of "we're going to be friends" by the white stripes. is jack white losing his mind? first coke, now this?!?!? come on now. it was perfectly appropriate in "napoleon dynamite," but not a commercial for some show from the people that brought us "friends" and "mad about you." why would he agree to such a thing? it showed grown adults on swings, like, "ohhh, we're all so young at heart and quirky, even though we're old now!" ACK.

what's even ickier is, astute readers will deduce that i was just watching "rock star: supernova," during which said commercial aired. :/ i guess my cover is blown. but let me just state for the record that i was on the internet and only half-watching. and i think the show is really bad. (there's no recovering from this, is there?!?! wait, if you know i was watching it, then you must've been watching it, too. HA!)

in non-related news, i am a mere 9 votes away from the #2 position in the farm aid front row tickets contest!!

in even nonner non-related news, captain beefheart is selling the house that he and his magic band recorded "trout mask replica" in. if i were wealthy and willing to relocate, i would totally buy it. (via boing boing)

yay, monster mags!

the always good pcl linkdump has links to the trailers of a bunch of really great movies. herschell gordon lewis, russ meyer, jack hill, doris wishman...mondo heaven!!! sidenote: one of the movies listed, "i dismember mama," is a flick that i convinced my dad to let me rent when i was in 7th grade...we stopped at the video store on the way home from the orthodontist, where i just got braces. so weird that i remember that...actually, maybe not that weird. getting braces was pretty traumatic. that shite HURT.

and finally, something is going on with posting photos on blogger, so there are no photos with this post. sorry. blame blogger.

$240 dollahs worth o' puddin'

i can't believe it never occurred to me until just now to search for "the state" on youtube. they have WHOLE ENTIRE EPISODES ON THERE!!! WOW. oh, happy day! kenny will be so excited---he's gonna yell, "I WANNA DIP MY BALLS IN IT!!" for all the world to hear. so, i guess i will be watching these all night long...that is, until "the office" comes on...3 episodes in a row tonight. and speaking of "the office..."

here are season 3 "spoilers." don't look if you don't want to, but i did and it reveals practically nothing. since i am myspace friends with pam, i read some of that stuff already. i'm kind of relieved, because i was addicted to reading the television without pity message boards when "six feet under" was down to its last few episodes, and i knew exactly when and how nate was going to die, and all the details of the last episode. clearly you can tell that i was the kid who snooped for her christmas presents and even snuck downstairs at night to carefully open the tape on the gifts and take a peek inside because she just couldn't stand it...anyway, i don't want to know anything about what happens with jim and pam until it airs. nothing. i just have to learn to control myself.

related: "the office" was nominated for best comedy and best actor (steve carell) emmys. not related: this is what you get when you type in "emmy.com".

will arnett got a best supporting actor nomination. COME ON!!! :)

my lands, i sound like the bigggest tv geek on earth right now.

here's some info about the mall that they filmed that scene from "the blues brothers" in. note: i love this blog long time! something about seeing pictures of malls in the 70's makes me really happy (especially when the malls where i grew up are featured).

snakes on a plane song!

i watched this all day yesterday. (this show, not just this clip. although that would be really funny if i only watched this clip all day.)

"...but surely that's not an anagram, that's a spoonerism!"

"if you're going to split hairs, I'm going to piss off!"

so, this is what i watched last night. my mom even called me to make sure i knew it was on, per my dad's request. my dad and i are way into monty python. when i was very young, i'm thinking maybe 9 or 10 years old, "the holy grail" was on pbs and told me i had to watch it with him, and i loved it. i began watching the show regularly not long after that (oftentimes with my dad), and thus became a lielong fan. i remember this sketch very vividly from my early python years. it may have been the first episode i ever saw...

a sidenote: my 12-year old nephew asked me to buy him the DVD of "holy grail" for Christmas this year. i was so proud. (he also asked me to get him a ramones cd, which made me even prouder.)

anyhoo, last night was eric idle's personal best. he is definitely one of my fave python guys, if not my very favorite. that michael palin is a funny mofo as well. oh, i love all of them. anyway, every single second of that show last night was HILARIOUS, it was all the best sketches crammed into one hour. wheeeeeee!

here are some sounds of python for ye.

i also love the rutles, and you should, too.

buy something or piss off.

please tell your friends about this show.

if one of your new year's resolutions is to help your fellow man, then go to this website now. the world will be a better place if we all do our part. monday's episode was great. if you missed it, it was a desperate plea to save the show combined with a parody of its own demise: "I don't think the Home Builders Organization is going to support us," George says."Yeah, the HBO is not going to want us," replies Michael. "What are we going to do?"

if this is really the end, i bet the last episode is going to be killer.

whoah, this is crazy. i used to have a house of freaks tape in high school that i loved. i can't remember which one it was, though...

degrassi jr. high is back, bitches!

it's on right now!! wow, i haven't seen this in nearly 20 years! yay! i wondered when they would get around to bringing it back, what with that new version they have now (which i don't care aboot). it's so bad that, of course, it's great. i guess i am gonna have to stay up late watching it now; it's apparently going to be on at midnight, monday-thursday. holy crap, i forgot how insane spike's hair was. i'm diggin' her 80's gothy-punk chick duds.

i'm amazed at how i remember all these people (hosers) and how they're competely etched into my brain. i'm so glad it's back, it's ABOOT TIME, AY?
