this sure is a slow internet day.

nothing really going on at all. personally speaking, the house hunt is getting hot n' heavy, so that's kind of exciting. it seems like all we do lately is look at houses...we found something last night that would be perfect. awesome location, beautiful view from every angle, great yard, porch, doesn't need a whole lot of work on the outside...except that the house reeked of cat pee so severely that i almost passed out. literally. i thought i was gonna puke. it was insane. i think whoever lived there must've had 267 cats and a few dogs. and then died in there. ugh. so we would have to rip out all the carpets, re-do all the floors, scrub the place from top to bottom, paint, etc. but it's really cute with a really amazing yard that is HUGE and has big old trees and a pink flowering dogwod and ivy...*sigh* it really is incredible. but, it needs a lot of work. to be honest, i don't even know what the inside looks like...i was in & out of that walk-through like The Flash. it was awful. but---it could be really, really cute.

man, this is stressful. but an exciting kind of stressful, i guess. maybe we should be doing this...?

p.s. new sonic youth song here, charlie sheen's mean voicemails to denise richards here, jared leto mistakenly thinks his band is relevant here.

i also used the last of my purple manic panic last night:

I like to dissect women. Did you know I'm totally insane?

i need to see this movie!!

sort-of related (mary harron directed both "...bettie page" and "american psycho"): patrick bateman talking action figure. i wonder if it says, "sabrina, don't just stare at it, eat it." that'd be great. but not as good as:

"Do you like Phil Collins? I've been a big Genesis fan ever since the release of their 1980 album, Duke. Before that, I really didn't understand any of their work. Too artsy, too intellectual...." blah blah blah. that may very well be my favorite scene of the movie. anyway. moving on.

book covers. that's all. just book covers.

i guess they didn't have the wisdom to know the difference.

plot-o-matic movie plot generator. here's mine:

Taint: A Love Story
an original screenplay concept by Mondo Retro

Black comedy: A struggling artist teams up with a cute dog named Jake to discover America. In the process they sign a suicide pact with a gay interior decorator. By the end of the movie they burn 27 washed up ex-SNL cast members and end up winning the admiration of their country, living happily ever after.
Think Clerks meets Godzilla Vs. Monster Zero.

oh, give me a flippin' break. UGH.

mark mothersbaugh: problem-solver.

ewww.

l. ron hubbard's "the road to freedom." hahahahahahahaha!

if wacky cult music sung by celebrities isn't your scene, here are some deerhoof mp3s.

and now i have to return some videotapes.

let's get crazy...get some coke...

no, this is not a post about pat o'brien, but about jack white's coke commercial. it is visually pleasing and the tune is catchy. just like a good american commercial should be, right? :/ i wonder if this will catch on to the degree of "i'd like to teach the world to sing." who knows. all i know is, i am digging the color of the chicks' hair.

in other news: the top song lyric of all time, according to some brits, is "one life, with each other, sisters, brothers." i hope morrissey isn't too depressed that the song he wrote didn't make #1.

l.a. has a bunny museum.

related: bunnyocalypse.

happy birthday, bikini.

go neil!!!

will someone kill this chick already?!?!?

"Chain-store, chain-smoke, I consume you all..."

woo-hoo! thanks, 100 records! you are so very awesome. i'm gonna so totally rock out on the way to meet the real estate lady this afternoon! yes, chris and i are looking to join the rest of the grown-ups out there and buy a house. wheeeeeeeeee! i tried to look as nice as possible today. ok, that's a lie. if that were the case, i wouldn't be wearing black nail polish. but, chris just asked me to, like, not wear a kiss t-shirt or something to this meeting. so i wore a cute dress. blah.

i also just finished my taxes, literally about 20 minutes ago. i was all prepared to do one of 2 extensive posts this morning. it was either gonna be about the carradine acting dynasty (specifically, some of the hilarious and crazy names of the characters portrayed by all 3 carradines), or a bunch of cool david lynch links, interviews, art, etc. because, for some reason, i am ALL ABOUT THE LYNCH right now. i even did the dance of the man from another place in the red room for my mom before we went to Easter dinner. "That gum you like is coming back in style!!" oh, we laughed and laughed. we watched "twin peaks" together religiously when it was on. but, i am just way too frazzled for that. so, in lieu of those ideas, please enjoy "bendin' in the wind," the futurama episode with beck. it's a good one.

just in time for the holiday, from the smoking gun archive.

i'm gonna make a video right now and upload it. seriously. ok, i would never ever do that. or would i...

now it's time to go outside and enjoy the nice day!

i really hate mornings.

i mean, really, REALLY hate them, as my boyfriend will attest to. i am AWFUL in the morning. i can't think, i can't talk to anyone, and i am miserable. like, i feel like i am losing my shit. after a cup of coffee, i am usually fine. this morning i cried. WTF? there has GOT to be a pill out there somehwere that people like me can take to make the lives of their loved ones easier. oh, i guess it's called prozac. ha ha. i kid. my boyfriend deserves a medal for putting up with my shenanigans for all this time. or a cookie. "whaddaya want, a cookie?!?!?"

anyhoo...let's talk about art. specifically, art that i like.

marcel duchamp. my favorite. the one i posted, The Bride Stripped Bare by Her Bachelors, Even, is at the philly museum of art. i love this. they have it set up in front of a big window so you can see through the piece and everything...ahhhh...

jenny holzer.

egon schiele.

eva hesse.

there was this artist on our local cable-access channel the other night named bruce pollack. he lives in philly and makes the coolest stuff i've seen in a long time...most of the pieces he was discussing on the show were all made of circles and hexagons, and they were inspired by fractals. the colors he used were really wonderful, like yellow ochre and oranges and browns and i think some pinks...several of the pieces looked like flowers or trees--organic things. but each piece was mathematically precise. the detail was just so unbelievable! i honestly wanted to call into the show and be like, "how much is 'orange tree'?!?!? i must have it!!! you are awesome!!" but....you know. i'm poor and unmotivated. anyway, i can't find a lot about him on the internets...i found him here, but this piece isn't nearly as amazing as the ones on this rinky-dink little local show. the host did mention that those pieces were brand-new. pollack even mentioned that it was freaking him out to see the paintings in a different light and outside of his studio....oh well.

UPDATE: despite the fact that i snapped at him this morning for no good reason, and then cried, chris has found links for bruce pollock (spelled with an "o", not an "a". oops). (along with a million "blow up the moon" links.) whatta man. :) this piece also kicks ass.

in non-art news:

misogyny unlimited!

"America can, will, must, should and is going to blow up the moon." (thanks, the weenil!)

lebowski fest is almost here!

howl: the fiftieth anniversary.

r. crumb handbook.

'tropic of cancer' by henry miller. the whole thing.

the poor little foofy kitty!!!! *sniff, sniff*

oh, come on. who wouldn't want to live on this property?

double wow.

and the links just keep on coming...

bwah-hahaha. DUH. actually, i shouldn't say "duh." once, and this was like 13 years ago, barry williams was giving a discussion and book signing at a local university. my friend (who attended the school) and i thought it was, naturally, greg from the brady bunch. we were walking around with cameras and a copy of "growing up brady," but we couldn't find the event anywhere. finally we did, and it was indeed barry williams - an accountant giving a financial seminar. WHOOPS!

religious tattoos.

pictures of interesting mailboxes.

watch some cult classics here! wheeeee...

possible "surprise" endings to mutha-effen snakes on a mutha-effen plane.

romance books with a library theme. i worked at a library for years, and nothing sexy ever happened to me there... :/

wow.

man, those new raconteurs songs that have surfaced recently are AMAZING! i totally had a moment with "level" and "broken boy soldier" on the drive to work this morning. i can't believe how awesome they sound, like some totally new crazy 70's metal stoner band, but with jack white. so, so awesome.

and speaking of awesome...

let's hug it out, bitch.

this puts that measly $5 shake to shame.

i like this mars "smiley face" business.

strange sisters.

all kinds of children's animation. some familiar, some not. all foreign.

new david lynch movie with justin theroux, kyle maclachlan, harry dean stanton...ahhhhh! me loves it. "a mystery about a woman in trouble."

cadbury egg cake.

cupcakes vs. cup cheese.

ok. this is just insane. i just really hate them both at this point. and their kids too. go away!!!

all cupcakes, all the time.

the fear of asking girls out. (courtesy of johnny speed)

2nd 'art school confidential' trailer.

the hall of panflutists. didn't think there were so many, did ya?

here's a screenprinting tutorial, so you can make your own cool t-shirts this summer and won't have to fork out, like, $30 for one.

finally, here is a site featuring car interiors in some other language.

p.s. does everyone even know what cup cheese is? is it a local thing? (remember, "if you ain't dutch you ain't much.") there's not a whole lot on the internet about cup cheese. anyway, it is just really, really, really foul.

awwww, it's just like that tiny little town in "footloose."

100 unsexiest men. poor gilbert. p.s. i do not agree with #13, #26, #31, and #50. and even though #81 isn't sexy, he's got like the greatest voice ever, so leave him alone!
