don't say i never did anything for you, part 2

ehhh, forget the baked brie. this will surely be the big winner at your next party.

oh, come on. "it's pat" is kinda funny.

ahhh, this is stuff i like: the IMDb bottom 100. i can't believe there is only one "police academy" movie mentioned, and did anyone else ever hear of"thunderpants"?!?!? that's like the best movie title ever!

p.s.

i have new hair.

don't say i never did anything for you

here's a really easy recipe for baked brie with raspberry sauce. i think baked brie is rockin' and seems like a "rah-shah-shah" thing to serve, so i'm thinking i will be having it at my new year's party (even though it is the ghetto version, with crescent rolls and jam). the only change i would make is, you should serve red grapes with it instead of apple slices. i do recall that christine also makes a slammin' baked brie...perhaps if she's reading this, she can post the recipe...?

  • 1 tube of refrigerated Pillsbury crescent dinner rolls
  • 1 round or wedge of Brie cheese
  • Raspberry Jam, or other sweet jam
  • Brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup of maple syrup

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.

On a stick-free cookie sheet, lay out the crescent rolls flat; put brie round or wedge on top. Spread jam on brie, fold crescent rolls over top. Drizzle maple syrup over rolls and place a handful of brown sugar on top. Bake at 350º for 25 minutes. Let cool for 10 minutes before serving.

Serve with crackers and apple slices.

my favorite moments of 2006

1. seeing "visions of johanna" at the bob dylan show in upstate new york this summer. that was bob show #16 and only the second time i've seen that song live. it has been my favorite song by anyone, ever, since the very first time i heard it on some guy's mixtape i borrowed in 1996.

2. seeing "bang bang" by the raconteurs twice: once at roseland (which i passed out in front of after the show) and again at the spectrum in philly (with bob dylan - show #17). that jack white...damn. "store bought bones" and "broken boy soldier" were killer at both shows, too. i also need to mention that they played "a house is not a motel" by love at the spectrum also. again...damn. that dylan/racounteurs show was such a great show...i had a great time with my friends at that one. :)

3. moving into our new house!! there will be lots of pictures soon, as we are having a new year's eve party. it's turning into quite the swanky pad! i love it.

4. seeing the strokes at hammerstein ballroom in march. i've seen the strokes several times before, and some of those shows were monumental to me. but this show...they just sounded SO UNBELIEVABLY AWESOME. i remember everyone in my area jumping around and singing "the modern age" at the top of their lungs...and they all looked to be about 30. all us old-timers were totally rockin' out.

5. why does practically every favorite moment involve shows? well, here's another one: the beck show at the tower with the puppets. it was the last night of the tour, and he broke out a KILLER set lits. and those damn puppets! bonus: i made my own shirt in the lobby. i had the best time with that.

file this one under "good sportsmanship"

WE ARE THE CHAMPIONS, MY FRIENDS!

it was a close, competitive, and oftentimes nasty race (decoration-stealing, sign-defacing, trash-talking, etc), but rachel and i came out the victors in the holiday decorating contest! wooooo! dave and wyatt came in 2nd. so, we decided to pool our winnings (totaling a whopping $40) and go out for wings and beer. in all honesty, we were really sweatin' it, because wyatt brought his guitar and when the judges came around (one of which was the president of our company) they sang "jingle bells" AND a variation of "the chanukah song" ("give us the prize-ikah/because we're so awesome-kah...")
rachel and i may have been a tad pompous with our win, what with the high-fiving, woo-ing, dancing, "in your face"-ing, and the singing of "we are the champions." but we hugged it out, and i think we are all going to be friends again...someday.

in case you were wondering, no--we don't get any work done around here.

dave and wyatt's sign upon entering their office:

our retort:

i mean really, just look at these losers (or lovers...?):

seriously, rachel and i are SO much cooler and deserving to win the holiday decorating contest:

frankmas 2006

not only is michel gondry a genius director...

she's not your ho no mo

one-hour "office" last night! woooo! and it was a great episode; clearly the best one since "gay witch hunt."and directed by harold ramis!!!
when michael marked his benihana (a.k.a. "asian hooters") waitress with a marker, i almost died. that was the funniest thing ever. and i didn't even realize until i was talking with dave this morning that the original waitress they had at the restaurant wasn't even one of the waitresses that they brought back with them. heh.

so what did we learn? michael asked some mystery person to his all-inclusive sandals jamaica trip...michael is also too cheap to buy an entire crappy james blunt song on itunes to cry to when a woman dumps him, he just listens to the free clip...karen is jim's rebound chick (but we all knew that)...the schrutes use every part of the goose...toby can't even get a crappy free dunder-mifflin robe (the shot of him sitting there pathetically swinging his feet to the music was great)...

...and i also now have a new holiday drink to serve at parties: The Nagasaki (one part eggnog, three parts saki). mmmmmmmm...

oh, it's ON, b*tches!

our company is having a decorating contest for the holidays. it's pretty much a vicious battle between me and rachel (the "metalz" team--we design products that are made with either metal components or wood, so we be "metals.") and dave and wyatt (the art guys). rachel and i started decorating yesterday, and dave and wyatt got ALL THREATENED (yeah, i said it!) and went out at lunch today and bought a crapload of butt-ugly stuff at goodwill and the dollar store. behold, the OBVIOUS WINNERS of this competition:

AND NOW...THE LOSERS! (actually, their room looks pretty awesome. but it smells like burning and kinda like an old lady.)

what's really frightening is, we still have a week to go in the competition. oh, it is SO on.
