When she walks, the revolutions coming/In her hips, there's revolution

man, i spent the entire day yesterday downloading music and making the perfect playlist for a party we're having on saturday. i am so anal about stuff like that...i was saying things like, "hmmmm, i think the applause on that live version is a little too long, i better find a different version..." or, "which shins song will be better later on in the evening, when everyone is drunk?"

so, i hope i come through, music-wise. then i got all into listening to, reading about, and downloading kill rock stars and riot grrrl tuff. i was ALL ABOUT that whole scene back in the day. it was fun, last night, listening to bikini kill and bratmobile and 7 year bitch, wondering what some of those chicks are up to today, now that they are old like me. some we know about, of course... so, i was looking them up. there is a surprising lack of info on the whole subject outside of wikipedia. there is a retrospective at the emp, i sort of want to go check it out. yep, i will just bop on over to seattle later on this week...

of course my riot grrrl searchings led me to babes in toyland, which led me to hole, whom i used to like (before "live through this," and the whole driving kurt cobain to his death thing, if not being directly responsible for it). i discovered them because i knew kim gordon produced their album, and i devoured anything that had anything to do with sonic youth. i liked "pretty on the inside." i did. i had a bunch of hard-to-find singles and b-sides on an awesome tape that someone made for me, all recorded from vinyl, and had funny things in between all the songs. i freaking loved that tape. i often have thought about that tape. that tape is long gone. but, i downloaded all the songs last night, except for the "unplugged" stuff, because that stuff was from after i totally tuned out. i'm sure now that i am 32 i will think most of those songs suck. but whatever.

so, that then led me to looking up nirvana stuff, and i started reliving the whole nirvana thing. apparently kim gordon said in an interview recently that she didn't think kurt killed himself at all, that the people who were close to him don't believe that for a second. how the hell did i miss that?!?!? needless to say, i was up very late and i had strange dreams. sidenote: today is kurt's birthday, no? odd that i feel the urge to talk about him today. yikes, he would have been 39. !!!

in other news, here is the last, never-seen issue of dirt, which was spike jonze's magazine that was like a "sassy" for dudes. i used to have the first issue, because it came as a supplement to an issue of sassy. of course it's long gone; i probably cut it up. i cut up everything i should have saved.

anyway, i'm thinking i should make these for the party. it IS a tasty burger...and the cornerstone of any nutritious breakfast.

i know, i went all crazy with the linkage yesterday...

and yes, the kitty is very well made, i will admit. i don't know why i feel bad about the dead kitty but just fine about all the other dead animals.

p.s. i heart 100 records!
