no direction home, part 2

wow. part 2 wildly exceeded my expectations. i was totally blown away by most of the footage, and things that bob had to say. i have to own this film now. i am just in awe. wonderful, wonderful, wonderful.

joan baez said something to the effect that if you aren't interested in bob dylan, that's it, he's not for you. you just ignore him and that's fine. but if you are interested, he touches you so deep; he really gets inside you. and that is so true. this man really changed my life in some way that i can't quite pinpoint, but it doesn't make it any less true. and if you're reading this and you're into bob, then you know exactly what i'm talking about. and it's something that's impossible to explain.

I hear ya, sistah. The acoustic set from the Live at Manchester, 1966 album just blows my mind!

But is this a movie you are talking about, or Dylan's autobiography? I'm out of the loop.

Oh, it's a film. I will have to track it down.

it was on PBS the past 2 nights, but it also just came out on DVD with lots of extras, so...you know. get it now!!

yes, live 1966 is insane. there was tons of footage from that tour, and the infamous "royal albert hall" concert. you know, the whole "judas" thing.

1966 was, without a doubt, THE best year fro music ever. "blonde on blonde," "revolver," and "pet sounds" were all released on THE SAME DAY. !!!!!

Wow. Serendipidious! Haven't heard "pet sounds".

I really like Dylan's Time Out of Mind release as well.

GET PET SOUNDS NOW!!!!!! it's wonderful.

i desperately love "time out of mind" as well...the first time i saw dylan was right before that album came out, so i was really amped for the release of the record. it's def. in my top 5 dylan albums, maybe even in the top 3. the sound they got was just so...otherworldy and spooky. i enjoy "million miles" and "cold irons bound" the most, methinks...i just love the whole thing. i listened to nothing but "time out of mind" for, like, months in 1999 when this guy dumped me. when i listen to it now it reminds me of that time...
