smash your head on the punk rock flea market

if you live in the reading, pa area, i highly encourage you to stop by the first-ever punk rock flea market on august 26th! it's gonna be awesome, with garage & punk music, alcohol, and awesome cheap stuff to buy! what more could you want? i will have a booth there, with my handmade jewelry (of course), vintage dresses, probably some records, DVDs, maybe some art and some kitschy items. i'm sure that i will spend every penny i earn that day on drinks and other people's stuff, but hey. whatever.

scraping the bottom of the mondo art barrel

click images for a closer look...

make me an icon

see the paint dry
rigid and blue
we always ask why
when we never have to
on dusty canvas i draw
smoke a cigarette too
and chisel out my raw
impression of you

"life's probing questions"

you need not surrender the dream (yet)

"i don't even try"

"...remember how you loved his can opener?"

"tell me, randy, why were you mooning her?"

are you suffering from
a deep sense of
harmony & balance?

observe her fiery rhythm

electric cow love

"dead leaves and the dirty ground"
(featuring actual dead leaf from a bouquet jack white threw out of a window and i was lucky enough to catch!)

"go put on a sweater...or else."

these mixed-media collage pieces were done in 2002-2003. several of them were actually sold at an art show and presumably now hang in people's homes!! *gasp!* crazy!! the rest hang in my home, of course...and i know i gave "electric cow love" to mark and margy as a gift. ha, lucky them!

if you are, for some odd reason, interested in this art hanging in your home in the form of a print, please contact me and we'll talk. and please do not use these images without permission, or else i'll have to get medieval on your ass.

"this chinese food is extremely undercooked."

in her most ironic display of tom-foolery yet, little miss gertie jumped into our empty chinese food bag last night. hahahaha! what a goon!

also, my man finally hooked up the other computer in the upstairs loft, which has about 40 million 80's arcade games on it! we played every version of "street fighter" for hours and hours.

i also snapped some other pics while we were hangin' out up there...

so, i’m watching vh1 classic, and they just played “mandinka” by sinead o’connor, “take the skinheads bowling” by camper van beethoven, “love will tear us apart” by joy division, “satisfaction” by devo and “disappointed” by PiL! now they’re paying the cure. this is friggin awesome!

later…ugh, now they’ve started playing blur, oasis, and – get this – ned’s atomic dustbin. ha. but where’s dave kendall?! he really should be on this channel. heh…i used to like to do an impression of him saying "inspiral carpets" all really british-y: “EENSPIRULL CAH-PETS!!!”

oop, here’s "i’m free” by the soup dragons. i always liked this one…

more mondo muckity-muck

behold my "dukes of hazzard" lunchbox from when i was in love with john schneider while attending elementary school. dig the puffy little lulu stickers, itty-bitty e.t., and glorious rust inside! WOW.

before the duke boys, i loved mork. desperately.

currently, i love monkeys (and frida "monobrow" kahlo).

and shrunken heads.

and this rad robot i picked up on vacation last year.

and grimace.

and ambiguously gay barbie dolls that date sock monkeys, blue meanies, and guy smiley.

and simpsons guys, especially the director of "oh, streetcar!" p.s. don't take any wooden nickels!

all of these items are displayed in my bathroom. so, when you take a pee at my place, it's fun! wheeeee! peeeeee!

it was the best of times, it was the blurst of times...

aside from the pictures at the bottom of me and gertie (and this rad nymph-with-harp thing i bought at a flea market for $2 that i love so much and i just had to share), the following are images from some of my more recent-ish journals. i never really write anything in these journals; instead, i just collage things that i find or that i’m into at the moment, with some concert tickets and such thrown in. here are a few images; more to come some other day. enjoy!

my insane desk

since i brought my camera to work to snap a pic of the birthday boy, i thought i'd share what the wall of my desk looks like. this wall is a year-and-a-half in the making, and even i can't believe how insane it's getting. i literally don't have any room to put work-related stuff up there. heh.

some fun things you will find on my wall is a little ace frehley leg-o guy, a ripped whoopie cushion, a foamy homer simpson, pics of bob dylan, the white stripes, beck, joel and clementine, johnny cash, a print-out of the "taxi driver" watercolor paul proch did for me, a label from a can of potted meat, people i know, kevin bacon with his throat slit from "friday the 13th," etc. oh, and many, many pics from the paper of funny old ladies and geeky teenagers. also some headlines, such as "Police: Nude man steals cruiser" and "Every day we consume insect parts, rat hair." click on the pic below for the bigger version.
